FAQFrequently asked questions
What is the Botkin Trail?
A hiking route in Crimea that starts in Yalta and leads along the left bank of the Uchan-Su river valley to the Stavri-Kaya rock (663 m above sea level). The length is about 4.6 km. The trail was named in honor of doctor S.P. Botkin.
Who and when laid the path?
It was laid by members of the Yalta branch of the Crimean-Caucasian Mountain Club in 1901-1902 - already after the death of Botkin himself, who, in fact, had nothing to do with the laying of the route. This is one of the first named tourist trails of the region.
What is interesting to see on the way?
The route winds through tall pine forests, crosses the Ai-Dimitrii stream and the Bufilya-Dere gorge. The main attraction is the Yauzlar waterfall.
How difficult is the climb?
The trail is quite easy, but after the waterfall the height difference becomes noticeable, so it is better not to wear light walking slippers.
What do you need to know before going?
The trail lies within the boundaries of the Yalta Mountain and Forest Reserve, so you need to get a pass to visit.
