Pozhyzhevska
FAQFrequently asked questions
What kind of mountain is it and how high is it?
Pozhizhevska - the peak of the Chornohirsky ridge in the Carpathians, 1822 meters. It sits between Breskul and Danzerzh, on the border of the Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions.
How to get there?
A red-marked route along Montenegro passes through the peak. It is about an hour's walk from the neighboring peaks, so allow time for the differences and do not rush.
What is interesting to see nearby?
Two small alpine lakes, among them Verkhne, are hidden south of the peak. And on the Pozhizhevska meadow (about 1,550 m) there has been a meteorological and biological station since 1901 - they have been researching the Carpathian nature for over a century.
What to consider on the slopes?
The western slopes are cut off by steep rocky precipices, so here you should look at your feet, not just at the view. The lowest saddle of the ridge is nearby - about 1725 meters.
Is there a story here?
An old border mark has been preserved near the top - before the Second World War, the border between Poland and Czechoslovakia passed here. Mountains stand still, borders change.
