Day by dayItinerary
1 Day 1. Ivano-Frankivsk - Zaroslyak - Nesamovitoe
The instructor will meet the participants of the hike at the Ivano-Frankivsk railway station around 10 am. After the introductory briefing and distribution of food and equipment, we will move to the foot of Goverla.
A couple of hours later we disembark at the Zaroslyak camp site (altitude 1270 m). Excursions to Hoverla usually start from here, but today we will go in the other direction. Our goal is Lake Nesamovitoe. The path to it goes through the weather station on the Pozhizhevskaya meadow (1406 m) and a typical Carpathian forest (smereka, rowan, moss).
We set up camp near Lake Nesamovitoe (Furious, altitude 1750 m). Once upon a time there was a glacier here, but now it is an area of alpine meadows and dwarf coniferous trees. There is no firewood here, and the place is reserved, so there will be no fire in the evening, but we will cook on a burner (the instructor will take everything you need). It's quite high here and the night can be chilly.
Auto - 110 km, 2.5 hours. Walking - 7 km, 4 hours. Elevation gain - 500 m.
2 Day 2. Montenegrin ridge - Hoverla - Zaroslyak
Literally a hundred meters from the lake there is the crest of the Montenegrin ridge - the highest ridge of the Ukrainian Carpathians. In the morning, having gathered camp, we will climb the ridge in the area of Mount Turkul (1933 m) and follow it to the North-West towards Goverla. We will have a traverse about 6 kilometers long and along the way we will be able to climb the peaks of Dantsizh (1855 m), Pozhizhevskaya (1822 m) and Breskul (1911 m) from which there is an excellent view of both Hoverla and Black Mountain.
We will climb to the top of Goverla (2061 m) along the Southern spur. There are far fewer people on this trail than on other sides. However, as soon as we set foot on the top, we can forget about solitude with nature. Hoverla is very popular and there are always a lot of tourists here. True, only a few of them came here with large backpacks... Shall we arrange a heroic photo shoot with backpacks at the top?
After a short picnic at the top, we descend from Goverla towards the Zaroslyak camp site (about 4 km). A minibus will be waiting for us there. We will arrive at Ivano-Frankivsk station between 20:00 and 21:00. End of the program.
Auto - 110 km, 2.5 hours. Walking - 11 km, 9 hours. Elevation gain - 350 m.
