What is Zaroslyak and where is it?
This is a sports base at an altitude of 1,330 m at the foot of Hoverla, within the Carpathian National Nature Park. The highest base of this type in Ukraine is higher than only the mountains themselves.
Why do tourists always end up here?
Zaroslyak is a classic starting point for Hoverla, the highest peak of Ukraine. Most of those who go to conquer it from this side, start from here.
How to get here?
The nearest settlement is the village of Vorokhta in Ivano-Frankivsk region, from there a mountain road leads to the base. The last section is better to overcome with a full tank and without any illusions about the asphalt.
Is it possible to spend the night here?
Yes, the base accommodates up to 90 people at the same time: there are rooms of various levels of comfort, a dining room, hot water and even a sauna. It's convenient to spend the night before going up early.
Have people been walking here for a long time?
The first tourist shelter was built here by the Polish Tatra Society in 1880. It was burned several times and destroyed by wars, rebuilt, and a modern sports facility was built in 1959.
