“The Prokletie of Durmitor” is not the name of a fantasy horror, but a hike through the three most powerful and most beautiful mountain ranges of Montenegro. First, we spend 4 days exploring the little-known and inaccessible Prokletiye (it’s on the border with Albania), then we spend 1 day in the Komove nature reserve, and then we go to the north of Montenegro - to the more popular (but no less wild) Durmitor. At the end there is a bonus - a day and a half on the Adriatic coast (we see ancient fortresses, pirate bays and other attractions). There is practically no need to carry heavy backpacks - we explore all the peaks in the radial format (things remain in the camp, with only a bottle of water and a snack).
Brief plan of the trip
- Day 1 we arrive in Tivat, transfer to Prokletiye
- Day 2 first radial route along Prokletiy - Mount Volushnitsa
- Day 3 second radial along Prokletiy - Karanfily ridge
- Day 4 change of valley, Lake Savino Oko, Katun outpost
- Day 5 radial trip to Albania to Mount May Ezertse
- Day 6 radial to Mount Maya Rozit
- Day 7 moving to the Komove nature reserve
- Day 8 radial along Komov
- Day 9 transfer to Durmitor, rafting in the Tara canyon, camping in Zabljak
- Day 10 radial on Savin Kuk
- Day 11 radial to Mount Meded
- Day 12 radial to Bobotov Kuk
- Day 13 moving to Budva
- Day 14 excursion to Kotor
- Day 15 flight home
A detailed description of the route is currently being updated and will appear soon. The changes are due to the fact that we managed to build the route in such a way that all ascents now take place in the radial format (without heavy backpacks).
To get a better idea of the route, just read a few reports (below).

More information
- Despite the resort image of Montenegro, the mountains there are quite serious. And our route in terms of terrain complexity and daily elevation gain is quite comparable to the middle Caucasus. Therefore, beginners should go on easier hikes a couple of times (Carpathians, Türkiye) before signing up for a hike in Montenegro.
- For citizens of Russia and Ukraine, a visa to Montenegro is not required. Just take your passport with you.
- List of necessary things and equipment - the same as for the summer Carpathians. We will live in tents, sleep in sleeping bags, and cook on a stove. During the day in the mountains of Montenegro it is warm (+20), cold at night (+5). It can easily cover with a cloud, pour down with hail, etc. Don't forget your passport, a warm hat and mosquito repellent. Swimming trunks and swimsuits are useful for the beaches. On the other hand, as always, you should strive to lighten your backpack as much as possible.
- The main part of the group flies to Tivat from Kyiv, chartered by Windrose. Tickets cost $365, purchased at www.windrose.aero, paid by credit card. There is no need to pay separately for luggage.

I got carried away a little, but it’s worth visiting Montenegro even just for Prokletije alone. A place unconquered by man, little traveled by tourists, will give exactly those feelings of isolation from the world, unity with nature, special harmony for which they go to the mountains.
This trip had everything - sun, mountains, sea, fog, rain, rainbow, and even snow)) It was hard to say goodbye to Montenegro. She promised to return. So, Montenegro, wait for my comeback!
In order not to end the report on a “cash note”, I repeat - Montenegro is a superb place to travel. There are mountains here from which no one will leave deprived. This is complete satisfaction, after which it’s not a sin to lie on the sea.
