What is Polonina Rune and what is its height?
This is a wide, gentle mountain range in the Carpathians, part of the Polony Range in Transcarpathia. The highest point is about 1,479-1,482 meters, so sneakers are indispensable here.
Where is it and how to get there?
Polonina lies in the Perechyn and Velikobereznyan districts of Transcarpathia. It is convenient to climb from the villages of Tur'ya Polyana or Tur'ya Remeta via Simer, Turychka and Lypovets.
What is interesting to see?
There is an ornithological reserve of Sokolovi Skeli, the Velike Trosyan glacial lake and several waterfalls, among them the Voivodinsky. The slopes are covered with beech forests, and above - meadows.
When is the best time to come?
The best is on a clear autumn day: you can see the Eastern Carpathians, the Polish Beskydy Mountains, and the Slovak Tatras. In cloudy weather, the panorama turns into milk.
