Pikuy
FAQFrequently asked questions
What is Pikuy and how tall is it?
This is a 1,408-meter-high mountain on the Beshchady ridge, on the border of the Lviv and Transcarpathian regions. This is the highest point for Lviv Oblast - so if you want to say "I was on the roof of the region" without too much modesty, come here.
How to climb Pikuy?
The shortest and most interesting trail leads from the village of Belasovytsia and takes about 10 kilometers to the top. There is a tourist base in the village, so there are not many problems with logistics.
What is interesting at the top?
The cone of the mountain is crowned with a stone pillar about four meters high, erected in 1935. Nearby - picturesque rocks and steep cliffs, and from there a panorama of Verkhovyna and the Beskydy Mountains opens.
When is the best time to go to Pikuy?
The mountain is open all year round - in summer on a beech path, in winter on snow. The slopes are covered with beech forests, and closer to the top, subalpine vegetation with rare species begins.
Are there any natural features here?
Yes, there is a Pikuy nature reserve of state importance on the mountain, which protects the local subalpine flora. That is, picking rare flowers for a bouquet is a bad idea, it is better to limit yourself to photos.
