Takya-Tepe
FAQFrequently asked questions
What is Takya Tepe and what is its height?
This is a 1,253-meter-high mountain on the southeastern edge of the Kara-Tau massif, which is on the Karabi-Yayla plateau in Eastern Crimea. The top is bare and domed - in fact, hence the name: the Turkic "takya" means a skull, which the mountain resembles in shape.
How to get there?
The mountain lies approximately 4.5 km to the north-northeast of the village of Generalske. The 25th stage of the Crimean Trail passes along the northeastern slope, and route #166 is located at the foot of the southern slope, so tourists come here on foot, not minibuses.
What can be seen from here?
From the top there is a view of the coast for about 90 km - from the Karadag massif to the Ayu-Dag mountain. As for an observation deck without a ticket, it's not bad.
How are the slopes of the mountain different?
The northeastern slope is covered with forest and meadows, and the southern slope is steep and precipitous. There is a rapper on the very top, so don't think that someone forgot a pedestal there.
Does the mountain have a nature conservation status?
Yes, since 1981, Takya-Tepe has been part of the Karatau Mountain natural monument.
