What is Hegsky Waterfall and what is its height?
This is a waterfall on the Hega River in Abkhazia, on the northern spurs of the Gagra ridge. It falls from a height of about 70 meters (according to other data - 50-55 m), the water is icy even in summer.
Where is it located and how to get there?
Hudaut district of Abkhazia, approximately 6 km from the confluence of the Hega and Yupshara rivers, at an altitude of 530 m above sea level. The road is mountainous, so they usually go by SUV as part of the excursion.
When is the best time to come?
It is a warm season, because the snow near the waterfall lies until the end of summer, and the path to that part is impassable. In summer, the water is at its fullest and the road is open.
What is interesting about this waterfall apart from the falling water itself?
On the right is a grotto with an opening about 15 m high and 35 m wide, and next to it is an underground cave 315 meters long. That is, there is something to look at besides the jet.
Was a movie filmed here?
Yes, and a lot. It was here that the fight scene from "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson" was filmed, as well as "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi", "Sportloto-82" and the Georgian film "The Shores".
