MAN

MAN

FAQFrequently asked questions

What kind of cave is this and where does the name come from?

A small cave on the northern slope of Demerji in the Crimea. The name of the National Academy of Sciences is the Small Academy of Sciences: it was its young local historians who discovered the cave in 1963.

What are its dimensions?

Very compact - about 30 meters long. The ceiling of the upper tier rises from 3.5 m near the entrance to ten meters in the center, so in some places you can stretch out to your full height.

What can be seen there?

Once there were ancient rock paintings on the walls, but they have not survived to our days. What remained were mineral formations and a lot of animal bones. At the end of the cave, there is a collapse and a passage to a 30-meter well that leads down to the lower tier.

How to get there?

It is most convenient to go from the MAN pass along the northern part of Demerji. Landmarks are simple - a small forest, a tour and a rock-wall.

What should be considered before the descent?

The cave is moist, and in the depths there is an avalanche zone and a 30-meter well. Without proper equipment and experience, it is better not to climb deeper than the entrance.
