What is Hell and where to find it?
This is a steep precipice in the Gorgan massif at an altitude of 1441 m above sea level, sandwiched between the Sivulya and Tavpyshirk ridges. It lies at the junction of Ivano-Frankivsk region and Transcarpathia.
Where does such an ominous name come from?
According to local legends, people of different nationalities were punished here at different times. The name stuck - and, let's face it, it's hard to forget it.
How to get here?
Peklo stands at the intersection of tourist trails, so there are several options: about 4.5 hours from Bystrica (15.5 km), 4 hours from Maksimets or a longer road from Osmoloda - as much as 7.5 hours for 19 km.
What is interesting here, apart from the cliff?
The cliff itself is an outcrop of Eocene flysch with a giant scree below, and the top is covered with a spruce forest. The Bystrytsia-Solotvinska river begins its journey nearby.
Is it a difficult route?
This is a full-fledged mountain crossing for several hours with an altitude gain of up to one and a half thousand meters. Light shoes and two bottles of water won't save you here - pack like real Gorgans.
