What is Little Sivulya and what is its height?
This is a peak in the Gorgan massif in the Ukrainian Carpathians, 1815 meters high. Its older sister, Velyka Sivulya (1836 m), stands a little to the northwest and is about twenty meters higher.
Where exactly is it located?
In Ivano-Frankivsk region, on the border of Ivano-Frankivsk and Kalusky districts. The nearest settlements are Osmoloda, Stara Huta and Bystrytsia, and south of the mountain are the sources of Bystrytsia Solotvynska.
What awaits underfoot on the slopes?
The mountain is made of sandstones, so classic Gorgan stone outcrops are waiting for you at the top - the blocks reach three meters. The northern slopes are steep and sometimes rocky, so we do not promise an easy walk.
What does the vegetation look like on the way up?
Approximately 1,400-1,600 meters there are spruce forests, higher up the kingdom of the mountain pine begins, and lichens and mosses have settled on exposed stones.
Why is Mala Sivulya interesting for a traveler?
This is a typical Gorgan peak for those who like wild rock formations and silence without crowds. It is convenient to combine climbing with Velika Sivula nearby - two peaks in one hike.
