Nagar

This is a small village in the Kullu Valley (Himachal Pradesh state, India), on the left bank of the Beas River, about 26 km north of the city of Kullu. It lies high - approximately 1,900-2,000 m above sea level, so the mountains here are not scenery, but neighbors.

Once, back in the 15th century, it was the capital of the Kullu principality, so there is a 16th century castle and temples that are 800-900 years old. And the main magnet is the estate of the artist Nicholas Roerich, where he lived his last years.

In addition to the Roerich estate with a museum, the Urusvati Institute of Himalayan Studies founded by him and the Roerich International Memorial Trust work here. The old temples and the mountain landscape itself have not disappeared either.

The easiest way is through the city of Kullu, from which Nagar is about 26 km to the north. It is a long way from Delhi - almost 384 km, so allow time for the journey through the mountains.
