Iguazu Falls
FAQFrequently asked questions
What are Iguazu Falls and how tall are they?
This is the largest system of waterfalls in the world on the Iguazu River, which stretches for 2.7 km along the border of Argentina and Brazil. There are about 275 separate jets with a height of 64 to 82 meters.
In which country are they located - Argentina or Brazil?
And there and there at the same time: the waterfalls lie right on the border of the Argentine province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Parana. From the Argentinian side you can walk on bridges close to the water, from the Brazilian side you can see the whole panorama - so it is ideal to see both sides.
How to get there?
On the Brazilian side, the nearest city is Foz do Iguazu, 20 km away, on the Argentinian side, Puerto Iguazu. Both have airports served by LATAM, GOL, Azul and Aerolineas Argentinas. An ecological train leads through the tropical forest from the border to the waterfalls themselves.
When is the best time to go?
The most water is from December to February, during the rainy season. The spectacle is more powerful, but also more people; in the drier months, the stream is weaker, but the streams are more clearly visible.
What must be seen here?
The main shot is the Devil's Throat, a canyon 80-90 meters wide, where water falls with a roar and a cloud of splashes. San Martin, Adam and Eve and other waterfalls are nearby, and two national parks under the protection of UNESCO are around.
