FAQFrequently asked questions
What kind of mountain is Stog and how high is it?
This is a peak in the northeastern part of the Svidovets massif in the Ukrainian Carpathians, about 1704 m high (according to other data, 1707 m). At the top there are fields, so the views are unhindered.
Where exactly is it located?
In Rakhiv district of Transcarpathia. The southern saddle stretches to Blyznytsia (1883 m) - the highest point of Svydivets, and a little to the northwest is the peak of Kotel (1770 m).
How to get there?
The nearest village is Yasinya. Near the eastern foothills is the Dragobrat ski resort, from where a lift leads to the top, so in winter you can go up without your own feet.
Which route passes through Stog?
The mountain lies on the Svydivets Peak hiking route that connects the villages of Yasinya and Ust-Chorna. The north-western slopes are steep, and the eastern and western slopes are gentler, so the direction of ascent should be chosen wisely.
When is the best time to go?
In the summer, there is a pedestrian route and the fields are green; in the winter, Dragobrat with a lift buzzes nearby. That is, the mountain is active all year round - the only question is what you plan to descend on.
