What are Bucheji mountains and where are they?
This is a mountain massif in central Romania, part of the Southern Carpathians south of Brasov. It stretches through three counties - Dymbovica, Prahova and Brasov.
What is the highest point here?
Omu Peak, 2505 meters. According to local legends, this is a sacred mountain since Dacian times, so climbing here has a simpler flavor.
How to get there?
They usually come from the towns of Sinaia and Bushteni in the Prahova Valley. There are cable cars leading to the top, so you can climb to the plateau without heroic efforts with your feet.
What is worth seeing here?
Rock figures of the Sphinx and Babel on the Bucheji plateau - they were carved by wind and rain. Peles Castle and Monastery in Sinai and Cantacuzino Castle in Bushten are also nearby.
When is the best time to go?
In winter, people go skiing and sledding here, in summer - they go hiking along some of the most beautiful routes of the massif. More than 60 percent of the park is covered with forest, so there will be shade in the heat.
