Is Bryce really a canyon?
Technically no. This is a giant natural amphitheater that was washed away by erosion from the eastern slope of the Pavnsagant plateau. The name of the canyon was derived from habit rather than from geology.
What are these strange stone pillars?
These are humming red, orange and white spiers carved out of the rock by wind, water and frost. It is for them that they come here.
Where is it and at what height?
In the southwest of the state of Utah, USA. The edge of the amphitheater lies at an altitude of 2,400-2,700 meters - this is even higher than the southern edge of the Grand Canyon, so the oxygen here is rarer and the weather is cooler.
Why should you stay here until the night?
Bryce has the status of an International Dark Sky Park. If you want to see the stars without the city lights - there is no better place to look for, take a warm jacket and wait for darkness.
Why are there fewer people here than in neighboring parks?
There are fewer visitors than the Grand Canyon or Zion, mainly because of the remoteness. The nearest town is Tropic in Utah. However, the queues at the best viewing points are noticeably smaller.
