FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Perechin and where is it?

A small Transcarpathian city at the confluence of the Uzh and Tur'ya rivers, surrounded by mountains on almost all sides. It became a city in 2004, although mentions of the settlement date back to 1399.

How to get there?

The easiest way is from Uzhgorod - it is only about 22 km by road or railway. Perechyn has its own station on the electrified Sambir-Uzhhorod line, so you can also take the train.

What to see there?

Local pride - the largest horseshoe in Ukraine with a height of 2.55 m, erected in 2010. Nearby there are small sculptures such as the house of the tooth fairy and a frog. Among the churches, the Mykolaiv Church of 1769 and the Church of St. Augustine of 1906 are noteworthy.

Where to go if you are drawn to the mountains?

Perechyn is sandwiched between the peaks - Plishka (779 m), Sinatoriya and Novosilska Skala (776 m each). There is a calvary with a ten-meter oak cross on Mount Hurka, which offers a view of the surrounding area.

When is the best time to come?

The climate here is moderately continental and humid: summer is cool, autumn is warm, winter is mild. Spring is unstable, so don't count on the April weather - take an umbrella just in case.
