Plai (Borzhava)
FAQFrequently asked questions
What is Play and where to find it?
This is a 1,323-meter-high peak in the Polonyna Borzhava massif in Transcarpathia. Its neighbors are respectable - Temnatyk (1574 m) and Velikiy Verkh (1598 m).
How to get there?
The classic starting point is the town of Volovets, from where the mountain lies to the south. Next, with the feet up, because no one has yet come up with a different way to polony.
What's interesting upstairs?
A weather station has been operating at the top since 1968. Vyacheslav Chornovil worked here as an observer in 1969-1970 - a memorial sign was erected to him in 2007. Nearby there is a radio station with antennas and even old fortifications from the times of the world wars.
How difficult is it to climb?
The top itself is treeless, and the slopes are steep, especially the eastern ones. The foothills are overgrown with forest, so at first it is a shade, and then the meadow opens. Take normal shoes, not beach slippers.
