What is Grofa and how tall is she?
This is a conical mountain in the Gorgan massif in the Carpathians, in the Kalush region of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The height is 1748 m (according to other data, 1752 m), so no one can guarantee you the exact figure.
How to get there?
The starting point is the village of Osmoloda. From there, the routes lead either along Mount Kotelets or through Mount Kin.
What will I see on the way up?
Up to 1450 m, the slopes are covered with spruce forest, and above, bare stone ruins begin. Traces of the ancient glacier have also been preserved - craters and moraine ramparts.
Is Grofa somehow protected?
Yes, the mountain lies within the Grof landscape reserve, so it is not just a pile of stones, but an area with nature conservation status.
