Uzundzha

Uzundzha

Canyon 📍 Crimea

FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Uzundzha Canyon and where is it?

This is one of the natural charms of Crimea in the Balaklava district of Sevastopol, among the spurs of the Ai-Petryna Yayla. The canyon begins immediately beyond the eastern outskirts of the village of Kolkhozne.

What river flows here?

The canyon was paved by the Uzundzha River - one of the constituents of the Black River. That is, all this relief is the work of water, not someone's whim.

How to get here?

The landmark is the village of Kolkhozne, to which the Orlyne - Kolkhozne regional road leads. The canyon itself starts on the eastern outskirts of the village, so it is already on foot.

At what height is this all happening?

The village of Kolkhozne lies at an altitude of about 360 m above sea level, so a walk through the canyon is an activity for the mountain area, not for the beach mood.

Where did this name come from?

Old toponym: Uzundje is mentioned in the Ottoman land register of 1686. The name is of Crimean Tatar origin, so the history here is older than any tourist guide.
