Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
FAQFrequently asked questions
What kind of mountain is this and where is it anyway?
Jade Dragon Mountain is a mountain massif in the south of China, in Yunnan Province, near the city of Lijiang (and not in Nepal, as you can read somewhere). The highest point is the peak of Shanjidou, 5596 meters high.
How to get there and do you have to be a climber?
No, you won't have to climb the wall. There is a cable car from Lijiang that takes you to the observation deck at an altitude of 4,506 meters, and another platform is located higher - about 4,680 meters.
What to see there?
Glaciers on the peaks, snow-capped peaks, waterfalls with lakes and Yunshanping alpine meadow. At the foot, you should look at the open-air theater with performances, and in Lijiang itself - at the observation pond of the Black Dragon.
Is the top even broken?
Phil Peralta-Ramos and Eric Perlman climbed the main peak for the first time in 1987. As for such a prominent mountain, it was conquered rather late.
What else is the place known for besides species?
The mountain has China's highest AAAAA tourism rating and is important to the culture of the Naxi people and local Buddhists. And she managed to shine in one of the seasons of the show The Amazing Race.
