FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Cinque Torre and where is it?

This is a group of five rock towers in the Eastern Dolomites (northeast Italy, Belluno province), part of the Nuvolao massif. Each tower has its own name, and the tallest, Torre Grande, reaches 2,361 meters.

How to get there?

The landmark is the resort town of Cortina d'Ampezzo, northeast of the towers. There are two shelters nearby, Rifugio Cinque Torri (2137 m) and Rifugio Scoiattoli (2255 m), which can be reached on foot or in winter by ski lifts.

What to do here in the summer?

Climbing on routes of varying difficulty, walks along the Muraglia di Giau crest and Alta Via 1 section. Many trails pass through this area, so hikers will not be left without work.

What to see besides the towers themselves?

There is an open-air museum from the First World War: trenches and restored shelters - the area was the front line between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies. Lagatsuoi, Averau and the Falzarego Pass are also nearby.

When is the best time to go?

In the summer - for climbing and trekking and exploring the military trenches. In winter, the area is part of the Dolomiti Superski ski network, from where you can ski down to the Falzarego pass.
