Ptushkin's chair and a hike with Dud
On December 28, 2020, an interview was published on Youtube, which journalist Yuriy Dud took from Ukrainian travel blogger Anton Ptushkin. On the cover of this video, Ptushkin was sitting in a chair set outdoors, in the middle of the famous Lycian Way. After all, the interview was filmed while hiking in Turkey. Dud, Ptushkin and the cameramen took backpacks and tents and went to the mountains for several days. Do you want to know where exactly they went and where that very chair is located?
Route of the hike of Dudya and Ptushkin
The guys started at the famous arch marking the beginning of the Lycian Way near the village of Oludeniz. This is approximately 340 meters above sea level. From there they went up the classic route of the Lycian Trail and, at an altitude of about 750 meters, crossed the spur of Mount Babadag. All this time, behind them they had views of the Blue Lagoon of Oludeniz and numerous paragliders. Our tourists walked about 13 km during the day. This probably took about 6 hours of walking. The bloggers set up camp near the village of Kirme and at sunset launched a drone towards the sea and the Valley of the Butterflies.
In the morning the group continued their descent and halfway from Kirme to Faralya (a neighboring village) and the same photo was taken with the chair. Where did it come from? Someone threw it away! Unfortunately, it is not that uncommon for local residents to simply dump bulky waste on the side of the road. And tourists are not angels either.
So, the chair is still standing there on the path. At least in October 2021 it was still there. But sooner or later it will fall apart under the pressure of the elements and numerous tourists. Compare in the photo how his appearance has changed over the past 3 years.
Well, what about our celebrities? They went down to the village of Faralya, went into the only shop and met there a neuropathologist from Zaporozhye, who was just finishing a solo trek of the entire Lycian Trail (more than 500 km).
Unfortunately, we do not know whether Dud and Ptushkin descended into the Valley of Butterflies. Most likely not - after all, it’s quite dangerous, and the guys need to take care of themselves for the sake of the audience:)
After filming another scene in Faralya, Dud and Ptushkin took a taxi and drove (about 60 km) to Patara beach, where they stayed overnight in the dunes. By the way, it is prohibited to pitch tents on the beach of Patara - this is a nature reserve, sea turtles lay their eggs in the sand here. Perhaps this is precisely what is connected with the fact that at night Dudya’s tent was slightly blown away by the wind. Perhaps Yuri did not drive the pegs into the sand well, subconsciously fearing damage to the eggs:)
One way or another, everything ended well:) Yes, it did - the hike lasted only 2 days and 2 nights. In the morning, the team went back to Oludeniz, where Ptushkin flew an FPV drone.
By the way, most tourists walking along the Western Lycian Way with commercial groups end their trek in Patara. Thus, Dud and Ptushkin walked and showed in their video the very beginning and the very end of the route. And as you can probably guess, many interesting objects remained behind the scenes.
How to get there?
Want to take a photo in the chair? If you are an experienced traveler, you can easily walk the Lycian Way on your own (chair coordinates are given below). You can also rent a car or take a taxi from Fethiye. And of course you can join an organized tour along the Lycian Way. We have been organizing hikes and auto tours in Turkey every spring and autumn since 2010.
