An example of filling out a visa application form for Nepal

The picture above is an example of filling out a Nepalese visa application form. In green are comments on the filling, and in red is the actual sample filling using the example of data from the fictional Ivan Petrenko and the very real hotel, where we actually stay upon arrival in Nepal.

This form is called Visa Application and you can fill it out in two ways: on the website Department of Immigration or using special terminals at Kathmandu airport. In both cases, the questionnaire looks the same, the only difference is in the data entry process itself. To fill out the application form on the site, you will need to prepare a file with a photo. By the way, if the photo stubbornly won’t load, then try taking a larger image (not 100 pixels wide, but larger). Immediately after filling out the form, the site will give you a page with a barcode (see below). You need to print it out and take it with you. Please note that the expiration date of such a barcode is only 14 days, so you should not fill out the form too much in advance. In addition, you should take with you a copy of the first page of your passport.

And if you fill out the form at the terminal, it will take a photo of you, scan your passport and print out the barcode itself. But entering data using the terminal's on-screen keyboard is not always convenient. And sometimes there is a long queue at the terminals.

To be honest, I got the impression that this questionnaire is just a formality. Many tourists write complete nonsense there in the fields about home and Nepalese addresses, phone numbers, etc. The passport number and the dates of the visit, of course, are all correct.
