Obtaining a Nepal visa at Kathmandu airport.
Getting a Nepal visa couldn't be easier. I flew to Kathmandu, filled out forms right at the airport, paid money and that’s it – your Nepal visa is in your passport. But here, as everywhere else, there are some subtleties. If you want to save yourself the hassle and time of obtaining a Nepal visa, read this article BEFORE your flight to Nepal.
The visa process consists of 4 main stages:
- filling out the Arrival Information
- form
- filling out the Visa Application form
- payment of visa fee
- obtaining a visa
Let's look at them in order
Arrival Information
While on the plane, most of you will receive a short Arrival Information questionnaire. If you overslept it on the plane, don’t worry - there are tons of such pieces of paper at the airport. But it’s better to have your own pen.
You need to fill out the form as soon as possible before the passengers arrive. next flight. Therefore, read the text of the form in advance, remember what and where to write (in English!!)
Filling out the Visa Application form
In fact, you can fill out the Application at home, on this website:

An example of filling out a visa application form on the Nepal Immigration website.
Then you will save a photo (by simply uploading the file) and time in airport. Don't forget to print your receipt with the barcode. She It is valid for only 14 days, so do not fill out the form too early.
The second option is to fill out the Visa Application at terminals installed right in the airport hall. You enter your data there (the same form as on the website), the terminal takes a photo of you and prints you a receipt with a code. In addition, the terminal, based on the arrival and departure dates you entered, will CORRECTLY calculate the duration of your stay in Nepal and indicate to you which visa to pay for (for 15, 30 or 90 days).
The third option is to find a large paper Visa Application form and fill it out by hand. In this case, you will need a pen and one photo of any passport size. You need to cut this photo out of the block in advance - scissors are rarely available at the airport.
After you have completed both forms, you need to go to the cashier and pay for the visa.
Visa fee payment
The current cost of a Nepalese visa is:
- a visa for 15 days costs 25 dollars
- visa for 30 days costs 40 dollars
- visa for 90 days costs $100
Which visa should I buy? The one that the terminal recommended to you!
Cards are not accepted at the checkout! Don't believe the Visa and MasterCard signs above the cash registers.
Nepalese rupees are also not accepted - only currency. Once I even had to go to an exchange office, not to exchange bucks for rupees (as all normal people do upon arrival), but on the contrary - I changed rupees to get the missing dollars to pay the visa fee.
Since the price of a visa is stated in dollars, it is better to pay in dollars - in order to avoid an extortionate exchange rate when converted from Euros.
It would be wise to prepare the amount of the visa fee without change.
There is an ATM in the visa hall, but last time I couldn’t get even rupees out of it. You can't even dream about dollars.
Obtaining a visa
When you have received all the papers, you can go to the right side of the visa hall and stand in line to receive a visa. You should have in your hands:
- international passport
- receipt with barcode from the Application Form
- terminal
- two receipts for payment of visa fee
- completed Arrival Information form
When you have waited your turn, hand this package of documents to the person at the counter.
It is quite possible that he will ask you some questions. And it is very likely that you will not understand his English. Don't panic, just smile and say “trekking”. Most likely you are asked about the purpose of the visit. But perhaps the officer decided to clarify your registration))
Pay attention! A 90-day visa is only available at counters 11 and 12. They are located far to the right. Regular visas (for 15 and 30 days) are available at all other counters.
The visa itself is a small stamp, about half the size of a passport page. There is no photo on the visa.
