Leonid Smyshlyakov's equipment set
Not long ago, I turned to all experienced tourists with a request to share with the public their experience in the selection of equipment. Our regular client, Leonid Smyshlyakov, was the first to respond. He sent a list of equipment he used on summer hikes in Crimea. The weight of a complete set of equipment and clothing is only 8.3 kg!!!

Tent Light 2 Nova Tour
This model has now been discontinued. It was replaced by - "Lite plus 2 N"

Pros
- Light weight and volume when folded.
- Good ventilation.
Cons
- The temperatures outside and in the tent are the same.
- Takes up a lot of space for installation (due to guy wires).
- It’s a little uncomfortable from the feeling of insecurity, since the tent is visible through and looks like an awning with a bottom.
Operation results
Instead of poles I use Masters Sherpa trekking poles. Packed in a NORDWAY TREK ULTRALIGHT sleeping bag compression bag along with the sleeping bag. During operation, the iron rings under the racks popped out almost immediately; I use them without them. Used it for 10 days at the beginning of June in Crimea at an altitude of 1000m. Spent the night in good rain. It was dry inside.
Conclusions
For warm weather only.
Backpack Redfox RACER 40

The design of the backpack provides full ventilation of the back. There is provision for a drinking system, mesh pockets on the sides and two pockets on the waist. Adjustable anatomically shaped shoulder straps. Removable metal frame. Chest strap lock.
Pros

- the belt can be fastened back (convenient in transport)
- each side pocket fits a 2-liter bottle water
- no backpack cover required. easily covered with any poncho together with a person.
- due to the small thickness of the bag (18 cm), the center of gravity is close to the back
- good ventilation - the back does not sweat at all
Cons
- hard straps (can rub shoulders)
- non-adjustable back, be sure to try it on when purchasing
Operation results
I carried up to 16 kg during the day - no discomfort. My backpack color is yellow. Would have preferred red, but was out of stock.

Izhevsk rug - modified
We take a regular “Izhevsk” rug, 180x60x0.8cm, weight 460g. Cut in half 90x60cm + 90x60cm. Cut the half in half 60x45 + 60x45. We place two quarters on top of each other and punch two holes along one short side for subsequent tying. Then we lightly cut them along the long side.
The result was a mat measuring 120 x 45 cm, weighing 230 g, folded in four to a size of 30 x 45 x 3.2 cm, easily fitting into the smallest backpack. Size 120x45 is quite enough for a person up to 175cm tall.
We put an empty backpack under our feet. Under your head is a soft compression bag from the NORDWAY TREK ULTRALIGHT sleeping bag stuffed with unused clothes.
There is enough material left to make a second rug.
Operation results
I slept well.
