Talk about a girl

🗓 2007-07-17

At the last stop near our camp, a lonely girl settled down under the sequoias. Although lonely is not quite the right word. She was alone, but apparently she didn’t see any particular inconvenience in this. I sat on a rug by the fire and meditated to the sound of Chinese bells dangling in the wind. This sight could not leave us indifferent, and one of us even went to meet her (the girl). Upon his return, he provided us with valuable information. The girl is really traveling alone, she has been walking in the mountains for a week and plans to walk for the same amount of time. Well, a little personal information: she is 19 years old, originally from Zaporozhye.
This information caused a lively discussion in our camp. As one would expect, the majority of tourists (by the way, there were already 20 of us) expressed sincere doubt about the wisdom of such a vacation. How is it possible, a girl, an athlete, a Komsomol member and simply a beauty, but she walks alone. This is supposedly unsafe and it’s generally not clear why it’s necessary. People are social creatures, without society they run wild and a normal person cannot live like that. At least voluntarily.
There were truths and more moderate judgments, such as “everyone has their own path” or “that’s her right.” The guy who went on reconnaissance even admitted that he had long dreamed of traveling alone. The discussion continued for another 15 minutes, as a result the arguments of the parties dried up and we changed the topic.
And the girl still sat under the sequins and meditated on the fire.
