What is Dovhorukivska yaila and what is its height?

This is a mountain massif of the Main Range of the Crimean Mountains, which is also called Subatkan Yayla. The highest point is Buki peak, a little more than 1000 meters; together with the nearby ridge of Tyrke Yaila, the marks reach almost 1,290 meters.

Where did such a gentleman's name come from?

Not from long hands, but from the Dolgorukov landowners, who owned the lands on the western side of the plateau. The old Crimean Tatar name Subatkan-yaila comes from the river that flows here.

When is it better to go to Yaila?

This is the sunniest place in Crimea - up to 2,505 hours of sunshine per year, so summer and early autumn are the most pleasant. But in winter, get ready for surprises: about 90 days a year, the wind blows here over 40 m/s, and the snow lies for almost a hundred days.

What can be seen here?

Open spaces of the plateau with views of the Salgiru and Burulchi valleys, marble-like limestone rocks and military monuments. During the war, partisans operated here, memorials were erected in their honor from the 1960s, including the Mound of Glory.

Why is Yaila geologically interesting?

The plateau is composed mainly of marble-like limestones and is divided into lower and upper massifs. The area is relatively small, about 213 hectares, and to the south it connects with Demerji Yaila through the Tirke ridge.
