FAQFrequently asked questions

What is Cordillera Blanca and what makes it special?

This is a mountain range in the Peruvian Andes that stretches for about 200 km in length and 21 km in width. Here is the most tropical ice in the world - a kind of white record holder among the mountains near the equator.

What is the highest peak here?
Huascaran, 6768 meters - the highest point of Peru. This is one of the five most impressive peaks of the ridge, on which climbers from all over the world gather.
How to get here?

The base city is Huaraz, most trekkers and climbers start from there. Almost the entire ridge is covered by Huascaran National Park, established in 1975.

When is the best time to go?

The dry season lasts from May to September, and June-July provides the most stable weather for climbing. In the rainy season, the mountains hide behind the clouds and spoil the mood.

What to see besides the peaks?

Alpine lakes: Paron (the largest), Lyanganuko and the famous Lake 69 - a classic trekking goal. Once there were 722 glaciers here, but by 2003 there were about 485 of them left - the climate does not sleep.
