Sheshul
FAQFrequently asked questions
What is Sheshul and what is its height?
This is a peak in the Chornohora massif in the Ukrainian Carpathians, in Transcarpathia in the Rakhiv district. There is confusion with the height: Soviet maps wrote 1689 m (but this is actually the neighboring Kopytsia), and pre-war Polish ones - 1726 m, which is closer to the truth.
How to climb Sheshul?
It is most convenient to enter from the village of Kvasiv. From Sheshul, you can go to the nearby Petros - they are connected by a fairly gentle ridge with a meadow, so your legs won't get tired.
What can be seen from the top?
Petros (2020 m) and Hoverla (2061 m) are nearby, and the Svidovets massif can be seen to the northwest across the Black Tysa valley. That is, you are guaranteed a panorama of the country's highest mountains.
What grows on slopes?
The top and slopes are covered with meadows, bushes and blueberries - there is something to enjoy along the way. Beech and beech-fir forests begin below.
Are there any restrictions for tourists?
Sheshul lies within the Black Mountain Reserve, which is part of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve. So please be polite: this is a protected area, not a littered picnic area.
