What is Gosaikunda and where is it?
This is a high-altitude lake in the Himalayas, in the Langtang region (Rasuwa District, Nepal), at an altitude of 4380 m. At the same time, the Trishuli River begins here - so you are standing at its source.
What makes this place special for locals?
Gosaikunda is a popular place of pilgrimage in Hinduism, so you are not alone here: people come here not for the photo, but for the spiritual. The lake lies within the Langtang National Park and has the status of a Ramsar wetland.
When is the best time to go?
Six months a year, from October to June, the lake is under ice. If you want to see the water and not the rink - plan for a warmer season.
How to get there?
The easiest way is on foot, along the Dunche-Gosaikunda-Helambu track. In 2011, the government proposed to build a cable car from Dunce to the lake, but still count on your own two feet.

There are about 108 lakes in this area, so the matter is not limited to Gosaikunda alone. On the way, you come across the Lauribina pass at an altitude of 4610 m - it is noticeably harder to breathe there.
