Mount Mitridat rises above Kerch like a high dome. Two and a half thousand years ago there was an acropolis of ancient Pantikapey - the capital of Bosphor kingdom. The mountain was girdled by walls and Tsar's dwelling raised above it beautiful temples made of stone was radiant with whiteness, on it's slopes there were a lot of rich houses. Building of the area about one hundred hectars went down to the river - Pantikapa (nowadays it's called Melek - Chesme). Since the long time the excavations having been done by archaeologists on Mount Mitridat. From everything that was explored there the remnants of pritaneus - a public building of the first centuries A.D. - arouse a special interest. A part of archaeological finds is exhibited in Saint - Peterburg - in Bosphor's Hall of Ermitage. The most of the finds are in the Historical and Archeological Museum in Kerch.
