The monument of architecture - medieval armenian cloister Surb-Khach (1358) - is located in picturesque location in 4 kilometers from city Stary Krym, one of oldest on peninsula. When the armenians for the first time occur in Tauria, is authenticly is not known. They think, that in XIII century here already the large armenian colony existed. In Solkhat (Stary Krym) in XIV-XV centuries four armenian cloisters and ten of churches were. By them the schools, workshops were opened, the manuscripts were created.
Cloister in adjacent Cafa (Feodosia), for example, was recorded the history of armenians - origins from city Ani. The unique manuscript books, created in Solkhat, are stored in institute of ancient manuscripts Matendaran (Yerevan). One of four cloisters, existed in these locations, - Surb-Khach - is located in is dense overgrowth forest canyon near by mount. It is an architect complex of buildings, constructed in different time. The cloister during many centuries was centre of spiritual armenians attraction, holything, as a pilgrim location. The armenian colonies had not as territorial borders, as their own centralized management, and administrative communication with metropoly. All this replaced the church, which spirituallly united armenians, due to that they preserved on alien land the native language, customs, literature, religion. In different time in Surb-Khach the many firures of armenian cultures lived and worked. Now it is the monument of state significance.
