Kutuzov fountain

Soon after termination of war with Russia, the Turkeys, not desiring make peace with loss of Crimea, on July 22, 1774 dissembarked near Alushta and were strengthened near villages Shumy and Demerji. On following day they were attacked by Russian troops. During battle 29-year lieutenant-colonels M.I.Kutuzov, commanded the battalion, was heavy wounded in head and has losed one eye. The location by mountain spring, where privates washed wound of the commander, in 1824 year was marked memorable yet.
It was reconstructed in 1937, and the present view of the fountain became in 1956 after realization of project of sculptor Smerchinski and architect Babitski.
